Business Park
Project: Office building
Team: Gilma Teodora Gylytė, Martynas Šeškas, Domantas Baltrūnas, Gerda Nevulytė, Gedailė Nausėdaitė, Vaiva Šimoliūnaitė, Justina Jauniškytė, Simonas Liukaitis.
Type: Competition, 1st place
Location: Vilnius, Latvia
Year: 2016
Due to its task to design a new office centre in place of the post-modernist Vilnius Traffic Police Department, this competition caught many national and international architects attention. The goal here was to understand the major values held by the current building and translate them in to a new architectural programme. With that in mind, we proposed a new volume which follows the same concept and values of a previous building yet offers a modern office quality.
The proposed massing maintains existing building direction, which flows down the slope towards the river bank. Three volumes form an explicit linear structure – a beacon to the site and its surroundings. Its monumental northern façade separates the park from the busy road – a lush green space for Business Garden members with a collection of terraces, restaurants and sport facilities. The multi-storey car park carefully blends in with the slope, expanding the landscape and providing more opportunities for green spaces and gardens.
The Headquarters are located closest to the river – sensitive, beautiful and representative part of the site. The proposed architecture emphasizes quality and unique spaces for employees – green galleries over multiple floors and meeting places facing the park and beautiful hillside and the city. The building incorporates a rational structural grid, providing flexible spaces with focus on sustainability.
In this project, I was a co-leader of a team responsible for making a concept, assigning different tasks and delivering a great presentation. In addition, I was one of two people responsible for 3d modelling, rendering and producing key visuals representing our design and its values in a best way possible.
