Attention

Project: Audiovisual performance for Vildskud festival
Team: Olivia Brix Weincke (performer), Martynas Šeškas & Lukas Keysell (visual artists), Simonas Rambynas & Danni Juelskjær (sound artists), Tine Brix Davidsen (dramaturge), Jan Weincke (light and tech)
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Year: 2020

Following rhythms and patterns is a subconscious act we experience everyday, individually and through social activity. To recognize these patterns is to gain a deeper awareness of the mind and take control of one’s decisions. ATTENTION is an investigation of bodily expression through an exploration of visual patterns, sound and form. An abstract narrative displays how attention can be manipulated by shifting focus, both internally and externally. Viewers were invited to interact and respond to their experience of the performance.

The performance was 26 minutes long and took place in Refshaleøen Copenhagen, Denmark, in the beautiful scenery of Teater Øen (Theater Island). This show is a result of close collaboration between performance, story telling and immersive audiovisual experience. To illustrate and extend the piece performed by Olivia, we used both, abstract generative and more tangible visual elements alongside stage lighting and projections.
